Faire National Yearbook Review is independent review company, it is not affiliated with any yearbook publishing companies; we receive a diverse array of books from across the US and Canada, each serving as a unique reflection of the students, school, and community culture. While each publication is a distinct representation of its school year, we frequently notice overlaps that reveal themes of a broader cultural zeitgeist present across schools.
One of the most noticeable trends this year is the use of technology-inspired imagery in
yearbook cover design. Students and staff are embracing the digital age, literally, by designing covers that reflect the tools and platforms that define this generation.
Covers from Vista Innovation and Design Academy, Grossmont High School and Steele Canyon High School with stand out cover designs that depict music and video interfaces with titles and images relating to each unique school.
From holographic foil effects to graphics of music/video user interfaces, technology is taking center stage on yearbook covers this year. These designs reflect students’ growing engagement with the digital world, particularly as AI, streaming, virtual learning, and social media shape both academic and social experiences.
Popular visual elements seen in theme this year:
Circuitry, data visuals, and futuristic fonts
Cyberpunk and neon aesthetics are inspired by gaming and digital media.
Icons of tech culture, such as virtual reality headsets, social media motifs, or stylized representations of YouTube, and Playlists.
Abstract representations of data streams, networks, and digital landscapes.
Foil stamping, holographic elements, and even lenticular printing to simulate movement or screens.
Futuristic landscape graphics and illustrations
These design choices reflect students’ realities and interests, bridging creativity with relevance. Yearbook staffers are increasingly working with student artists or digital design classes to create these unique tech-forward visuals, making the cover not just a protective shell but a reflection of the times.
